Allergies appear to be increasing every day. In my day they were rarely talked about, and now they are everywhere so what is happening?
It is suggested that 1: 3 people are affected by food allergies or intolerances.
Many people experience food allergies or intolerances because they have an imbalanced immune system. There can be many reasons for this. Such as something called Gut Permeability or Leaky Gut, which means undigested proteins leak into the blood stream and cause problems. An over active immune system which could be suggesting an auto immune disorder.
Gluten is found in barley, rye, oats, wheat and spelt, and can cause all sorts of reactions in many people. It has a substance in it called Zonulin which can cause Leaky Gut and Leaky Brain, so if you find yourself bloating, and feeling awful after a bowl of pasta or a plate of toast you may wish to consider this.
Another miscreant are Lectins, which are used by plants kingdom to protect themselves from insects or animals attacking them. Lectins bind themselves to human cells and can set off the immune system or worse still, pre dispose you to auto immune disorder.
Lectins are very inflammatory in the system creating leukotrine’s which can cause you to experience pain, bloating and fluid retention. This neuro toxicity can attack the myelin sheath, which in turn can inhibit nerve growth factor.
If your system is hypersensitive it may mean that many every day foods can also cause you to react. There is a saying: “The Solution to Pollution is Dilution”. So if you feel you are retaining a lot of water this is because your body is trying to protect you from some food source.
Solutions: Try cutting out gluten and or dairy. Look at the foods you eat very regularly and how you feel after eating them.
