Why Your Body Will Thank You For Juicing | Why Juice ?
Juicing has once again reemerged as a hot topic, it should never have fallen of the radar as it is one of the great corner stones to optimise abundant health. So why juice ? It is so incredibly good for you and the best way of gaining all the nutrients you need and would not be able to gain by eating food alone. You would also never get through the amount of fruit and veg it takes to make just one pint of juice.
So Why Juice?
Everyone tells you that you should have your five a day, but that is not nearly enough, nor is 6-8 servings. Juicing is the fast way to get bio-available live active food straight into your body, and because it is a juice (with some added fibre most important), then you are not using up lots of energy in heavy digestion. When you juice raw fruits and vegetables, you get specific vitamins and minerals in a natural, easily absorbable form. Looking for beta carotene? Drink carrot juice. Looking for potassium? Try a green juice, or blackberry juice. All these wonderful natural micro-nutrients enable you to be a more energised and radiant you.
When you cook or process foods you damage and/or destroy the delicate and valuable nutrients you need for your body. When you microwave food, it is arguable that there are no nutrients left in the food worth eating.
Juicing allows you to consume an optimal amount of vegetables. This is really important as many people have impaired digestive systems. Which limits their body’s ability to absorb the essential nutrients to sustain their body’s functions. Juicing bypasses a lot of this, as it is so easy to assimilate.
Juicing is a great way to support weight loss, it can also kick start a natural way of detoxing the body. Some people may experience a headache when they juice as your body needs time to adjust. Plenty of water usually addresses this symptom and within a couple of days the body is really responding to a new juicing regime by giving you clearer skin, more energy, and less brain fog.
Enzymes are extremely important for the body as they are protein catalysts that control the speed of chemical reactions in your body. Without enzymes, these reactions would take place too slowly to keep you alive. Fruit and vegetable juices provide a rich source of enzymes, which spark the essential chemical reactions we need in order to live. They are necessary for digesting food, for stimulating the brain, for providing cellular energy, and for repairing all tissue.
Why juice ?
It is important to know the source of your ingredients, are they pesticide free, organically grown? Here are a list of greens which tend to carry the most pesticides and contamination:

When you are ready to start juicing make sure you juice things you enjoy, by all means add one piece of fruit to sweeten it, but remember root vegetables contain a lot of sugar and so do fruits. Sugar from any source feeds bacteria, viruses and fungi so limit the fruits as much as possible. Lemons and limes are good, apples and oranges contain lots of sugar, but experiment and have some fun!
When I juice I like to have some ingredients that always go in, my list of staples is below:
- Fresh Ginger
- Fresh Turmeric
- Handful of berries (Fruits of the Forest)
- Fresh Chilli
Juice is best drunk straight away, however if time is not on your side, there is no reason why you cannot put it in a sealed container in the fridge for later. However best drunk within 24 hours if you want to harness all the goodness in it and avoid fermentation.
Juice is also a great way to add other nutrients into your diet such as chlorella, spirulina, coconut fat, ghee, macca, coconut water. Allow your imagination to run wild.

One last note, buy the best juicer you can afford. And for the record a nutri bullet is not a juicer! It combines water with whizzed up vegetables and fruit, which is not the same. Cheaper juicers are centrifugal they are noisy and break down more easily, however any juicer is far better than no juicer. The best juicers are cold pressed single auger juicers for maximum enzyme potential.
